Sometimes playing it safe is appropriate. Choosing from options like participating in a spelling bee. Say the option, spell it out, say the option again and onto the next option.
I had a conversation years ago (1992 for those that keep track) about internal ecology. It's the same as instinct, the same as gut feeling. Tracking internal ecology is a science much like meteorology. How's that option sitting? Well we're calm and placid in the north but somewhere in the anterior posterior delta region we're experiencing high winds leading to near hurricane.
The bones know what the weather's doing.

In other news, there's a new baby on the block. He's fabulous. He's a million welcome torches in a dark night. He's water in a desert. He's food in a famine. He's got a good momma. Welcome little JB, hope we can do right by ya.

Okay, forgive my ignorance of internal ecology, but is "high winds in the posterior delta region" a euphemism for gas? ;-)
